Peonies

Peonies are one of the most beautiful flowers that we can grow in our climate. An investment in a peony will give you a lifetime of bloom and they have beautiful foliage even when not in bloom. Peonies are the longest lived of any herbaceous perennial and, while somewhat slow to become established, will last for generations. Remember to remove and dispose of all peony foliage (stems and leaves) in late fall. The single peonies should not be overlooked as they are spectacular in bloom and have strong stems. Japanese peonies have large blooms with a row or more of petals surrounding a large center tuft of many stamenoides, in harmonious and striking combinations. We have found the best success comes from starting with 3 to 5 eye divisions with a generous root mass and that is what we ship (in fall only).
